After an eventful year of auctions up and down the country, selling over 2000 properties to thousands of happy individuals, families and investors, we at iamproperty, have compiled our top 3 properties sold in 2017.
Potternewton Lane, Leeds
Northern and rather unique, this traditional mid-terrace house in Leeds made it onto our top 3 properties sold in 2017, not just because it’s northern… But because of it’s £1 starting bid and full refurbishment potential.
The stone built house in Leeds dates back to the 1730’s and has been in the same ownership since its £4000 purchase in 1973. The traditional stone home maintains many of its original features, however, requires full modernisation with the potential for a second bedroom. Additionally, the property has many conversion opportunities such as a cellar which can be converted into a dining/kitchen room.
After an exciting auction, with news coverage and interest all over the country, the £1 property sold for a whopping £110,500, with over 1486 views! Having such a huge sale above the reserve price, it’s unique history and full refurbishment potential; this Yorkshire home certainly deserves a place as one of our favourite properties of 2017.
Bryn y Brywn, Llangower
This classically beautiful hermit home made it into our top 3 properties of 2017 not just for its dream location, but the sheer buzz it had among bidders.
Located in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, this Welsh property made it into the top 3 for its privacy, impeccable views of Bala lake and the rustically aged appearance of the cottage – recognised as a former cowshed.
The cottage, in need of a full programme of repairs, achieved a total of 87 bids from 21 individual bidders. Having such a huge interest, and why wouldn’t it? This quaint little cottage sold for a total of £146,000 – 143% above its £60,000 reserve price.

The Oaks, Felbridge
The Oaks, one of our most substantial sales and certainly one of our largest homes sold, was a must for the top three properties of 2017.
While lacking the age of our previous properties, this superbly secluded retreat in sought after Felbridge, with approximately 1-acre of land, certainly makes up for its lack of history. Set back from the road behind automated gates, approached by a sweeping driveway that eases you into the properties beautiful setting, The Oaks tells a story as soon as you enter.
Once inside, the magnificent family home doesn’t disappoint, expanding beyond the quiet swoop of the driveway into a multitude of hallways that lead to large communal spaces, reflecting the sheer size of the property and its grounds.
